Good day NMRCA Members - Alicia Briggs of CABQ would like to request your feedback about the Planning departments permitting process. Below is her email. (edited for clarity and brevity)

My name is Alicia Briggs and I work for the City of Albuquerque.

The Performance and Innovation Office has been asked to evaluate and analyze the Planning Department’s building & trades permit process. There is a particular interest in the one stop shop counter located at Plaza Del Sol. We would like to get customer input and can do so most efficiently through the Construction Associations networks of members. We have a few questions we would like to ask of you as an NMRCA member.

Please know that we are open to hearing directly from association members and welcome the opportunity to understand your experiences. Feel free to and to call me at 505-768-3711 with questions.

Questions:

  • In one word, how would you describe the building/trades permit process?

  • What frustrations do you have with the process?

  • How can the process better meet your needs?

  • In what area are you experiencing delays; permitting, plan review, and inspection?

  • What are your impressions on the quality of service?

  • How often do you have to call or email staff during the process to resolve an issue?

  • Do you have any suggestions for how the City could improve the building permit or building inspection process?

  • Is there any information that could have been provided up front that would make the process easier?

  • What are your members thoughts regarding the turnaround times? For approvals/reviews? For permit issuance?

  • How would you grade the counter staff in the Planning Department One Stop Shop in professionalism and courtesy? (Scale 1 to 5, 5 being best)

  • How would you grade the staff’s knowledge and helpfulness in handling permit applications and questions? (Scale 1 to 5, 5 being best)

  • Are there particular employees/customers/members that you feel we should speak with? Who?

Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
